With the festive period in full swing and the year soon approaching a close, many people will not remember 2016 with the fondest of memories. But the overall social connotations linked to this time of year are often disregarded. The feeling of spending time with family and friends and ushering that phrase “who cares, it’s Christmas” is often part of the merry celebrations. Being a University student (or any kind of student) sometimes leads to forgetting about how much family members do to support and ensure the best for your future. Often in the news in the current age is stories revolving around war and conflict. In terms of realisation, it should be remembered that some people do not receive the same luxury of seeing their family during the festive period or even have a family at all.
As Christmas is upon us, I won’t go on one of my depressing tangents but will simply wish the people that read, like or follow my blog a happy Christmas and I hope that 2017 is filled with pleasant new beginnings. (Be hopeful, it might happen) It was once said that “Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone” and in a world filled with such revulsion and disagreement, there is never a more perfect time for this quote to be taken more seriously.
